What is a beadlock wheel?
A genuine beadlock wheel uses a clamp ring and bolts to mechanically lock the tyre bead to the rim. That grip lets you run very low tyre pressures off-road without the tyre slipping or coming off the rim, which gives you more traction and a better ride on sand, rocks and corrugations. Beadlock wheels are popular with rock crawlers, overlanders and anyone running a GVM upgrade on a loaded 4x4.
How imitation beadlock wheels differ
An imitation beadlock wheel, also called a simulated beadlock wheel, copies the look of the ring and lip but is a one-piece wheel with no clamping function. You get the aggressive 4x4 look, and the wheel is fitted and maintained like any standard alloy. A genuine beadlock, like the Lenso Amada, delivers the real locking function but is for off-road use only and needs more care when fitting tyres.
